All eyes are on The Gnoll tomorrow as we look for a historic double, having already won the league earlier this season with a 100% record.
That was the first time that WRL have done a top of the table wins it, and no-one could stop us in that competition. We’ve qualified for the 2027 Challenge Cup as a result. Whatever happens from here, nobody can take those achievements away from this group.
But this is different, it’s the Cup, Aberavon Fighting Irish want to stop us, and you can bet they’ll be pulling out all the stops and we’ll go into this as the underdogs.
Aberavon have had a disjointed season, but we know better than anyone what happens when they reach a final. They turn up, the last two Grand Finals have proved that.
They find another gear when there’s silverware on the line, and tomorrow will be no different. They’ll be confident, they’ll be physical, and they’ll rightly believe they can do it again.
Tomorrow the unbeaten record means nothing. Being League Champions means nothing. Previous finals mean nothing.
At kick-off, it’s 0–0 and there are 80 minutes between two teams who know each other very well.
This Jets side has already achieved something special. But there’s still a feeling around this group that “we have unfinished business.”
One more game together. One more time pulling on that shirt. One more chance to stand beside the lads who have been there through the whole season and finish this properly.
We know Aberavon will turn up. The question is whether we’re prepared to go somewhere we haven’t managed to go before.
Tomorrow we get our answer. No excuses. No looking backwards. Just 80 minutes of everything we’ve got. Let them be favourites. We’ll go there and try to spoil the party.
