Higgs to captain Grand Final side

Dean Higgs will captain South Wales Jets in Saturday’s Grand Final against Aberavon Fighting Irish at The Lextan Gnoll (kick-off 3.30pm).

The 38-year old Wales Dragonhearts international missed out on last year’s event, but will proudly lead the boys out as we look to regain our title that we won in 2023.

For the first time, we’ll go into the game as underdogs as Aberavon have won every game this season. There will be no pressure on us. but we will be full of confidence after our positive training sessions this week.

We’ve done it the hard way this season as we’ve played all of our games at different grounds and only had the one at Penallta RFC, through no fault of our own, but we have had successes as a club.

Our U18s open the day in Neath, taking on Bridgend Blue Bulls at 11am. If they win, that’ll be two trophies in the bank, as we’ve already taken the U13 title.

We lost in the U12s and U14s but are proud enough to say that we’re the first club to enter multiple competitions and reach the final of every one, which is a credit to how well we’ve run things this season.

And then there was Jets Fest, where hundreds came to Ammanford to watch primarily West Wales Jets v South Wales Jets in a number of age groups. Win or lose in our two games on Saturday, we’ll always be proud of how we’ve done things as a club.

So please come along and support us at Neath and cheer us on to victory. Let’s turn The Gnoll into another Jets Fest.
