The South Wales Jets men’s side are back in training for the new rugby league season that starts in three months.
A total of 34 players have signed on to the club and already registered with Wales Rugby League so competition for places is going to be fierce.
We finished top of the table last year but lost the Grand Final but just three points after finishing level in the game on tries, so we know we need to pull out all the stops to regain our title in 2025.
We’ve retained most of our players from last year, including influential captain Dean Higgs and the league’s top try scorer from 2024, Marcus Webb.
We would also like to welcome nine new signings…
Charley Bodman, who has played professionally with Hunslet and Cornwall.
Lloyd Bodman, who came through the WRL junior system and was a Wales U16 international in 2013 alongside Regan Grace.
Ethan Coombes, who played for Wales Dragonhearts a few years ago.
Scott Kear, younger brother of Wales captain Elliot, who has turned out for Torfaen Tigers in the past.
Lewis Rowden, who came through the Celtic Crusaders ranks 15 years ago. He’ll be making his first rugby league appearance since he was a youth.
Then we have four newcomers to rugby league in Morgan Raison, Matthew Savage, Blaine Smith and Lewis Webb.
Head coach Ben Flower said: “Delighted to see so many back for our first session of the year. We’ve a big three-month pre-season ahead of us as we’ll be going in hard to try and regain the trophy this year. Delighted to see so many existing players return and the new players are already fitting in well.”
