Big weekend at Penallta for the Jets

It’s an absolutely massive weekend for the Jets at Penallta and we need all of your support on Saturday and Sunday.

It all starts at 10am tomorrow where you can support whoever you like in the first game of a triple header.

The U13 semi-final between South Wales Jets and West Wales Jets kicks things off where the winner qualifies for the Grand Final in Neath on Saturday 26th July.

Then at 12.30pm, Wales take on England looking for a first-ever win against the 2022 World Champions. See the named sides here.

Finally, at 3pm, South Wales Jets take on Rhondda Outlaws in the JES Group Rugby League Conference knowing that a win could put us into the Grand Final in Neath in a fortnight’s time.

If we slip up, then Bridgend Blue Bulls will go into second place in the table if they can overcome the unbeaten Aberavon Fighting Irish on Saturday at Pyle, so we can’t slip up.

Defeat for the Bulls and a win for the Jets will mean that Ben Flower’s side qualify for the Grand Final alongside the Fighting Irish.

There are eight changes from the side that beat Bridgend in Jets Fest, mainly to the bench. Lewis Howells and Tyler Jones return to the starting line-up, with George Groves, Aaron Harris and Lewis Webb all returning as substitutes. Set to make their competitive debuts for the Jets are Scott Kear, Iestyn Jones and Matthew Savage.

Flower said: “We have a few players out this week, but we still have a strong line-up thanks to the strength in depth at this club. We’re all looking forward to playing a league match at Penallta for the first time this season and we know it’s going to be an enjoyable day of rugby league.”

Sunday sees us host two more semi-finals as we look to overcome Bridgend Blue Bulls in the U12s and Aberavon FI Robins in the U14s.

The juniors will hope to join our U18s, who have already qualified for that Grand Final..

“We’ve worked really hard this season as a club and we’ve been rewarded with home semi-finals at all junior levels we play at,” Flower adds. “We’ve trained hard and hopefully, by the end of the weekend, we could be celebrating five Grand Finalists.”
