South Wales Jets travel to last year’s Midlands champions Telford Raiders this Saturday in what is the club’s third and, so far, the final pre-season friendly.
Following tough encounters against a strong Wests Warriors side in London and being pushed to the limit by a Clive Griffiths-coached Wales Students side in a thrilling match that ended in a 38-all draw in Penallta, it’s another big test.
Head coach Ben Flower has named a 19-man squad for the trip with Lewis Webb and Morgan Raison set to make their first appearances in a Jets shirt, whilst Marcus Webb and Connor Lloyd are down to play for the first time this season.
Flower said: “This may be our last outing before we face Aberavon in the first league match and we’re taking a mixture of youth and experience to the Midlands this Saturday. We deliberately set ourselves up with some tough challenges for our pre-season. Telford are another experienced side, they won the Midlands league last year, and we’re looking forward to the trip.”
