South Wales Jets continue their 2025 JES Group Rugby League Conference campaign with an away game against Bridgend Blue Bulls at Pyle tomorrow (Saturday).
It’ll be a double header for fans to travel to and enjoy with both side’s U18s clashing at noon before the men’s game at 2.30pm.
It’s our first ever game at U18s level so please come along early and support their piece of history, with players from each side, including our own Ollie Bellavia-Walker, having represented Wales U18s in their win over Ireland last week.
The men are looking to get off the mark after our understrength side went down in Port Talbot last week, and we’ll be very much up for this game against WRL’s most successful club, historically at least.
Former West Wales Raiders, Hunslet and Cornwall forward Charley Bodman makes his Jets debut on Saturday, starting from the bench. The former Wales Students international is one of ten changes made by head coach Ben Flower.
Exactly half of last week’s side haven’t made the cut for the trip to Pyle. Coming back into the Jets line-up are Alex Langworthy, Lewis Howells, Henry Parker, Dean Higgs, Dafydd Hellard, Shane Lee, Connor Lloyd, Aaron Lloyd and Johnathan Reid.
Head coach Ben Flower said: “We’re very much looking forward to this week’s match. We were disappointed to lose last week at Aberavon but the side we fielded gave their all against quality opposition.
“This week, we’re pleased to bring back most of last year’s regulars, plus we’re pleased to welcome Charley Bodman to the club, the experience he gained at Hunslet will be good for him in the Welsh Conference. Henry Parker has had some good matches for Leigh Leopards reserves this season and we very much missed people like Higgsy our captain and our playmaker Shane Lee.
“It’s great to have the 18s on first. It’s another step for us as we build a quality club for all ages and some of them I’m sure will be ready for the seniors in the near future.”
Some of our other junior sides will be playing on Sunday. Please give them your support where you can. Details below.
