We have got to the business end of the season. We go into the playoffs unbeaten and league leaders but that means nothing when it comes to knock-out rugby league.
On Saturday at 2.30pm at Penallta RFC, we face a strong Cynon Valley Cavaliers team who have had a great season reaching the playoffs for the first time.
But we have a strong side out with Dean Higgs leading us again in a combination of youth and experience. Of our former semi-professional players, only Cobi Green is absent and he’ll hopefully be back for the final, should we get there.
Our head coach Ben Flower says: “The Cavs, when they have a full-strength side out, are a force to be reckoned with. Yes we’re at home and yes we beat them well at home last time, but if we’re off our game, we could let them in. We need to put in a polished performance from minute one to minute 80 if we want to go back to the Grand Final.”
We will be having Mr. Feast with us throughout the day and his burgers are the talk of the town. There will also be free face paints for the kids.
If Saturday isn’t enough for you, please come along on Sunday at 11am to see our U12s semi-final against Pontyclun Kings. Hopefully we can have two sides at Grand Finals Day on August 18 in Neath.
