South Wales Jets were formed three years ago by Liam Price and he based them in Rhondda Cynon Taff before moving to Penallta in the Caerphilly County Borough for 2024.
Then this year, he founded West Wales Jets in his home town of Ammanford and, with the help of many volunteers and enthusiasts in the area, has launched junior sides from U8 up to U16 level.
South Wales Jets run sides from U8-U14 plus U18 and senior, and every side will be in action at “Jets Fest”.
The action at Ammanford RUFC all starts at 10am and will finish by 7pm.
From U8-U14 level, the matches will all be West Wales Jets v South Wales Jets, the U16 match is an encounter between West Wales Jets and Swansea Rams, whilst the U18 and senior matches will be South Wales Jets v Bridgend Blue Bulls.
All matches from U12 upwards will be full WRL league matches, culminating the JES Group Rugby League Conference between the Jets and the Bulls at 5pm.
In addition, there will be the second exhibition match between two girls U14s sides from South Wales Jets. They are currently the only girls side in Wales, but the good news is that West Wales Jets will be starting girls sides in 2026. It is hoped that other clubs will follow to help the development of the female game in South Wales to feed into the Cardiff Demons senior side.
As well as the feast of rugby league, there will be inflatable, face painting, as well as slip and slide for the kids. A barbeque and bar will be open all day.
Admission to the whole day is £6 for non-playing adults. Players and under 16s free.
Tickets can be bought online from skiddle.com and will be valid for the whole day. The price will increase to £7.50 on the day of Jets Fest.

Price says: “We’re almost there, the countdown is on to the very first Jets Fest, and I still have to pinch myself to believe it’s really happening.
“When this journey began, I could never have imagined a day like this. But now, on July 5th, 2025, nearly 500 proud players will run out wearing the Jets RL badge on their chests. It’s a moment that will stand as a true milestone for our club and for rugby league in Wales.
“This day is more than just rugby, it’s a celebration of who we are. Expect a full-throttle day of action on the pitch, plus inflatables,
slip ‘n slides, face painting, a sizzling all-day BBQ, and a bar open for the grown-ups. There will be something for everyone from our youngest fans to our lifelong supporters.
“As everyone knows, we don’t normally charge to watch our junior fixtures – that’s part of who we are. But Jets Fest is something special — a chance not only to come together as one community, but also to raise the vital funds that help carry us through the season and into our end-of-year celebrations. Tickets will be discounted online (please click on link below) ahead of the day, and of course, all players and under 16s get in for free.
“So, bring your voices, your energy, your pride and let’s make this a day to remember. I can’t wait to see you all there, united as one Jets family, for what promises to be the largest day of rugby league in Wales this year.”
